Which is sad, since they have published the books in hardcover from “Lover at last ” and up. The first 9 books are only available in paperback, and Piatkus have no plans on re-issuing them into hardcover. Piatkus have published The BDB books as trade paperback, regular paperback and hardcover. I have always thought that Piatkus does a better job at matching the models on the covers with the actual character s, than the US does. They started publishing her books in 2008, and they have promptly been publishing every book since. In the UK, The BDB series, ALL of J.R Ward´s series for that matter, is published by Piatkus books. The short answer is: Different Publishers! *List will be updated regularly* why different covers on the same book? I will also include the different bindings they come in, just incase you want to know, haha! So today I will list and compare the covers, so you can see for yourself! I hope you all are having great day, reading your favourite BDB book!įor a while now, I have been getting questions about the differences between the UK and US covers of The BDB series.

Gravel’s foray into longer format graphic novels starts off wonderfully with Olga and the Smelly Thing for Nowhere. The Montreal-based author/illustrator is the force behind the wonderful non-fiction Disgusting Creatures series, as well as the terrifically fun picture books I Want a Monster! and The Cranky Ballerina. I have spoken/written about my love of Elise Gravel‘s work a few times before. Olga and the Smelly Thing From Nowhere by Elise Gravel These are ones I’ve recently read, enjoyed tremendously and would recommend: In a roundabout way, I guess what I’m trying to say is: graphic novels for children (and all-ages) rock and definitely count as reading. It breaks my heart if I hear an adult- or heaven forbid, a teacher- say they don’t ‘count’ graphic novels as reading. I cannot even count the number of times I’ve had a caregiver or self-described reluctant reader come ask me for reader’s advisory help and graphic novels (or comics) have been a huge (HUGE) ray of hope for both kid and adult. Admittedly, there are indeed a number of book genres that I love- but children’s graphic novels hold a special spot in my reader’s and librarian’s heart. ‘This is a story that is utterly beguiling from the opening sentence to the very last full stop.’ - Author Mary Anne Yarde It also placed third for Debut Novel 2020 (Coffee Pot Book Club).
